Cookie Blitz Update
April 25, 2011 at 7:44 pm | Posted in Events, Fundraising, People | Leave a commentThank you to all girls, Guiders, parents and Friends of Guiding who helped with this year’s Classic Cookie Blitz. In just under two (2) weeks we’ve sold almost 600 carry cases of cookies — there are only 21 cases left at the office. Special thanks are due to Nancy Deasty and the ‘Snack Shack’ volunteers who sold cookies and other treats out at Swan Haven over two weekends.
Cookie revenues are essential to Guiding in the Yukon. Working together as a team to sell our cookies makes best use of our limited resources and allows girls and adults from different branches to meet and work together.
Thank to all Unit Guiders and their girls, and to our Cookie Dough Counters (Jan Mann, Carrie McClelland, Shirley Clark, Margo Neely and Jo-Ann Gates), Cookie Rovers (Sarah Usher, Jen Moorlag, Margot Neely, and Nancy Campbell) and the many parents/guardians who took girls out on routes.
And a big thanks too to CKRW, the Whitehorse Star and What’s Up Yukon who went way beyond the call of duty in helping us tell the world that the cookie blitz was on.
CWFF — Donation Made Easy
April 10, 2011 at 12:41 pm | Posted in Fundraising | Leave a commentYukon Council has set up a ‘donation account’ at Raven Recycling. Guiding members and Friends of Guiding are invited to direct your refunds to this account, to benefit the Canadian World Friendship Fund (CWFF). It’s as simple as bringing in your refundables in a bag with a note attached and leaving it to the good folks at Raven Recycling to sort the materials and credit the account later – no waiting for you! Girl Guides of Canada – Guides du Canada maintains and administers the CWFF, with funds raised supporting the World Centres, Mutual Aid, World Thinking Day, assistance to countries starting or reestablishing Guiding, and assistance to countries suffering from natural disasters.

Help Guiding in Haiti
January 17, 2010 at 8:32 am | Posted in Fundraising, Opportunities | Leave a commentGirl Guides of Canada has a close relationship with Haiti through the Canadian World Friend Fund (CWFF) where we have monies designated for mutual aid. As Haiti struggles to deal with the earthquake’s aftermath, we encourage Members of Girl Guides of Canada who are interested in providing support to Haiti Guiding to contribute through the Canadian World Friendship Fund. You can send your donation to the national office of Guides Canada or drop it by the Yukon Guides Office. Units may want to raise funds for the CWFF as part of their Thinking Day challenge.
