A Great Evening
September 17, 2009 at 1:16 pm | In Events, People | Leave a CommentThanks to everyone who helped make Tuesday’s registration event a success. It was great to see new and familiar faces, get singing, and enjoy a BBQ on a fine fall evening. Below are some pictures: Carrie hard at work on the BBQ, some of the girls and adults enjoying campfire, and Erin presenting Evelyn Neave with her 50 year pin.
And the Whitehorse Star ran a story about the event in its Sept. 17 issue — see attached PDF.

Reminder: Registration Event on Sept. 15
September 14, 2009 at 8:24 am | In Events | Leave a CommentOne sleep to go until we hold our annual registration celebration at Shipyards Park …
TUESDAY, SEPT. 15 — 5pm to 7 pm
This is a great opportunity to visit with Guiding friends old and new, do that pesky paperwork, and join in the fun of Guiding (food! singing! games!) We will have a special presentation at 6 pm too: Recognizing Evelyn Neave’s years of service with a (gulp!) 50 year pin.
Hope to see you there …. looks like the weather will co-operate too.
Getting ready for 2009-10
August 24, 2009 at 10:14 am | In Events, Opportunities, Sprucewind Camp | Leave a CommentMembers of the Yukon Council Executive met at Sprucewind Aug. 22 to plan the coming year — training for Guiders, girl events, the annual Bazaar, etc. A dedicated few started the weekend on Friday night by sprucing up the storage room. Thanks!
Recruitment of new leaders is now underway. If you have a friend who you think would make a great Guider, please ask her to join! Girl greatness starts with great leaders.
The ‘Coming Events’ section has been updated to reflect the two big registration events coming up. You can also register at the Guide Office — check our ‘Contact Us’ page for days and times we’re open.
Kidsdezvous 2009
March 12, 2009 at 7:13 pm | In Events | Leave a Comment
February brought longer days and a Rendezvous Party to celebrate. Shipyards Park was full of fun: kids sliding, skating, and creating your own garter to prevent being arrested by the Keystone Kops. Yukon Girl Guides and Pathfinders were on hand to deliver Kidsdezvous and provided games and activities to entertain.
Yukon Sparks came out to decorate the bus for the parade. The enthusiasm demonstrated during the parade was recognized with the award of ‘Best Youth Presentation.’ Congratulations to all and thanks for participating!
Bazaar Success
November 18, 2008 at 9:34 am | In Events | Leave a CommentAnother successful Bazaar was held on November 15th. The bazaar raised almost $2000, the silent auction $800 and 11 carrying cases of cookies were sold.
Congratulations on a job well done. Thanks to everyone who helped with set up, selling, take down, craft making, baking, silent auction, planning and purchasing! Special thanks to Shannon who made it all happen.

Yukon Girl Guides celebrated World Thinking Day on Saturday, February 22 at the Canada Games Centre in Whitehorse.

The girls heard presentations that helped broaden their horizons, finding out more about Guiding around the world.

After some fun and games, our Patron, Yukon Commissioner Geraldine Van Bibber spoke to the girls as well.
